Covid 19 and social distancing regulations meant that there became a new appreciation for the outdoors, millennials going for picnics and park dates unlike ever before. This collection consists of bold yet playful designs which are interactive; shapes that flow together or even interlock like a puzzle.
My designs can be slot together in order to bring people together or be taken apart to provide socially distanced space while retaining a sense of connection, intimacy and unity between friends and family.

My designs are based upon unconventional gaps, holes and peculiar silhouettes which have formed through my installation series; the use of dynamic positive and negative space represents my theme; Breaks in Continuity.

Interaction became an integral part of my collection development; I explored with Thermochromics and Photochromics allowing the human body to change and shift the colour of my designs while also recording body placement on the materials.

I approached creating this collection with a new take on interiors, calling for a revival on plain picnic blankets and accessories; a blanket doesn’t have to be a flat rectangle, it could have pieces missing, curved lines and intercut sections.

I decided on a pastel brights colour scheme which allows my work to appear contemporary while also provoking a happy and positive mood in such hard times.

The use of Towelling Material has been evidenced throughout my collection and therefore I also photographed my beach towel and other designs in context. Portobello Beach Shoot:
